Attorney Gerald G. Arze

Gerald G. Arze is a first generation American born to parents who emigrated from the South American country of Bolivia in 1969. He is fluent in Spanish. He graduated from St. Joseph's College in 1997 and attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, of Yeshiva University, which he graduated from in 2000. During law school, he was a member and Senior Managing Editor of the Cardozo Women's Law Journal. He was admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the Federal Bar in the Eastern District of New York in 2001. From September 2000 through April 2007, Mr. Arze was employed by several high profile law firms, where he was involved in complex personal injury matters, including labor law cases, medical malpractice actions, trip and fall cases, and automobile accidents.

Mr. Arze is a trial lawyer who presently handles a wide variety of cases including automobile accidents, construction accidents, lawsuits involving trip/slip and falls, and medical malpractice cases. • $808,000 obtained after a jury trial for a construction worker injured in a fall down a chimney while doing brick pointing. The lawyers for the Defendant building owner contended that the worker made a good recovery, that he could return to work in the construction field, and that his present physical condition was being exaggerated at trial. The jury rejected their contentions, awarding the injured worker a verdict in his favor.
• $670,000 for a woman who tripped and fell on a New York City sidewalk and sustained injuries to her knee. The City never deemed the case worthy of a settlement offer prior to trial;
• $390,000 obtained after a jury trial for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street. The lawyers for the Defendant offered less than $40,000 in a settlement for her injuries at the start of trial, where she had sustained fractured ribs, and serious back and neck injuries. She claimed she was unable to return to work for approximately six months following the accident, and that she suffered from extreme pain on a daily basis in her back and neck approximately three years following the accident. The jury rejected the defense lawyers contentions of exaggeration and awarded Mr. Arze's client past pain and suffering, future pain and suffering, and future medical expenses.
  $360,000 for a young girl who was riding her bicycle out of her driveway onto a roadway and was struck by a motor vehicle proceeding on the road. An offer of $60,000 was made by the defendants in the case representing what they perceived was the full value of the case;
• $175,000 for a woman who was a passenger on a New York City Bus which was involved in an accident with another vehicle on the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. She sustained injuries to her neck which required several years of physical therapy. An offer of settlement of the case was made at trial for $5,000.

Mr. Arze is a strong advocate for the rights of the injured as demonstrated by his active participation as a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and the Brooklyn Bar Association.

Recently, he has been featured as a guest on a weekend radio program, station 1380 AM, providing legal assistance and information to listeners of its predominantly Spanish speaking audience.

Attorney Raymond J. Mollica

Raymond J. Mollica is a third generation Italian-American from a family who has been dedicated to medicine, teaching, and community involvement. Mr. Mollica attended the State University of New York, College at Oneonta, with a course load heavy in History, Philosophy and Religion. After obtained his Bachelor of Science in History in 1996 he went on to study law at the Saint John's University School of Law, graduating in 1999. After admission to practice in March of 2000, Mr. Mollica has dedicated himself to the representation of injured persons. Prior to opening Arze & Mollica, LLP, Mr. Mollica worked at two very prominent law firms specializing in personal injury, and in particular construction site accidents. Recently he sat on the Kings County Judicial Screening Committee, and is active in local politics.

Mr. Mollica presently handles a wide variety of cases including automobile accidents, construction accidents, lawsuits involving trip/slip and falls, and medical malpractice cases. Cases of Note:

• $500,000 for a day laborer whose employer and his own brother-in-law denied being injured on the worksite, who had sustained a complex fracture of the wrist requiring open reduction and external fixation;
• $250,000 for a woman who tripped and fell on a defective sidewalk in front of Macy's and sustained injuries to two fingers on her non-dominant hand, which required surgery;
• $250,000 for a middle aged Staten Island woman who tripped and fell on a defective sidewalk and fractured her wrist, requiring the installation of plates and screws. Mr. Mollica established that the owner's use of his home as a business made him liable under the New York City "Sidewalk Law;"
• Successfully defeated the defendants' appeal on the issue of the "Serious Injury Threshold" in the case of Jones v. Hoaue;
• Successfully appealed the denial of summary judgment pursuant to Labor Law § 240(1) in the case of Madalinski v. Structure Tone;
• Successfully argued before the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department on several other cases, including Tabickman v. Batchelder and Bahktadze v. Riddle.

Mr. Mollica is a member of the Columbian Lawyer's Association, Brooklyn Bar Association and the New York Trial Lawyers Association, as well as the Stars and Stripes Club.
