Attorney Alan C. Sklar

Alan C. Sklar directs the firm’s transactional practice.  Mr. Sklar has practiced real estate, corporate, commercial, healthcare, and securities law since the early 1980s.  He has during the past 35 years represented many of Nevada’s leading companies and entrepreneurs in numerous highly-publicized matters.  Mr. Sklar was selected as Nevada’s leading business lawyer by the Nevada Business Journal, as Finance Monthly’s “Fintech Awards 2019” USA Banking & Finance Lawyer of the Year, and has received numerous accolades and acknowledgements, including from Best Lawyers In America®, Nevada Business Magazine’s Legal Elite®, Chambers USA®, and Super Lawyers®, and has for many years held the designation AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated (the highest rating available), from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Sklar was previously affiliated with Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp and Warren Clark & Sklar in Los Angeles and was Managing Director of a New York-based private equity firm; he is a member of the Board of Directors and co-founder of Las Vegas-based GBank Financial Holdings and its subsidiary, Bank of George, as well as numerous other corporations, and also co-founded Silver State ACO.  Mr. Sklar also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Battle Born Venture, Nevada’s state venture capital fund, and for many years served as a member of the Market Advisory Board of Bloomberg Businessweek Magazine and its predecessor. Mr. Sklar is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts & Science (Summa Cum Laude) and School of Law and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, and other honorary societies.  He was Clarence Morris Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law from 1980-1982 and has published several articles on corporate, securities, and commercial law for the Practising Law Institute and other publications.  Mr. Sklar is fluent in Hebrew and is admitted to the state bars of Nevada and California.

Attorney Ann C. Pongracz

Ann C. Pongracz directs the firm’s Government Affairs and Regulatory and Administrative law practice.  Ms. Pongracz is a nationally recognized attorney and government affairs professional with over 35 years of experience working with government agencies, regulated industries and their stakeholders, and NGOs. Her portfolio of expertise includes energy, telecommunications, water, and transportation including EVs/LEVs and autonomous systems.  She applies in-depth knowledge of regulatory and administrative law and processes, legislation, complex contracts, municipal franchises, and multi-party dispute resolution to help her clients overcome tough challenges.

Ms. Pongracz most recently served as Chairwoman of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to which she was appointed by Governor Steve Sisolak (D), following her original appointment to the Commission by Governor Brian Sandoval (R). She represented Nevada on the Energy Imbalance Market Body of State Regulators and NARUC Committees on Electricity and Water, and she led Nevada’s entry into the Western States’ Joint Action Framework on Climate Change.

Prior to joining the PUC-N, Ms. Pongracz was Special Counsel and Deputy Attorney General for the Colorado River Commission’s electric operations where she led a multi-state legal team that passed federal legislation authorizing 50-year Hoover power contracts and negotiated federal and state contracts for over 60 utilities, state, and local governments, and tribal entities. As attorney for the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Ms. Pongracz worked on the Tesla and Apple transactions and on creation of the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems. Earlier in her career, she was General Counsel for Sprint’s telecommunications utility in Southern Nevada and represented Sprint in regulatory proceedings and legislatures throughout the western United States.

Ms. Pongracz received her A.B. cum laude in Government from Harvard University, and her J.D. from Temple University. She is an active member of the Nevada State Bar and has also practiced law as a member of the state bars of California and Pennsylvania.

Attorney Anthony R. Ager

Anthony R. Ager, a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rated attorney (highest peer-review rating for professional excellence), has more than 20 years of litigation experience.  Mr. Ager practices in the areas of plaintiffs’ personal injury, landlord-tenant law, commercial litigation, and both gaming and non-gaming collections.  Mr. Ager has represented a wide variety of accident victims in catastrophic and less-severe injury cases.  His landlord-tenant practice includes representing commercial landlords in eviction proceedings and counseling landlords on resolving disputes with tenants.  As a commercial litigator, Mr. Ager represents businesses in Nevada’s state and federal courts.  Mr. Ager represents a large casino client in gaming collections matters, and he recently secured a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision affirming that casino markers are valid and enforceable by legal process.  He draws on his extensive experience in gaming and non-gaming collections to assist clients in collecting on judgments in all of his practice areas.

Before joining Sklar Williams, Mr. Ager was a shareholder at a top-tier regional firm and was of counsel at an NLJ 500 law firm.  He began his career at a boutique law firm in Las Vegas, where he focused on insurance defense matters.  Mr. Ager is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and California Western School of Law.  He is licensed to practice in Nevada and California.

Attorney Brent M. Resh

Brent M. Resh practices primarily in the areas of corporate transactions, intellectual property, and appellate litigation.  Brent grew up in Las Vegas and graduated from Duke University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 2011.  Prior to attending law school, Brent worked as a math, science and English tutor for students of all ages. Brent graduated magna cum laude from the William S. Boyd School of Law, where he earned several CALI awards, served on the editorial board of the Nevada Law Journal, and published two scholarly articles on evolving legal issues relevant to Nevada.  Brent was awarded the Judge Elissa Cadish Award for Outstanding Student Note in 2017 for his scholarly article on solar energy and property law, and he presented his second article at a cannabis law symposium held at the William S. Boyd School of Law in 2019.  After law school, Brent clerked for the Supreme Court of Nevada for two years.  He is a member of the State Bars of Nevada and Arizona.

Attorney Bryan M. Williams

Bryan M. Williams practices in the areas of securities, corporate, technology, and commercial law.  Mr. Williams previously practiced at Lionel Sawyer & Collins in Las Vegas, and is a former staff attorney for the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance, and a former National Bank Examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Dallas and Houston, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He holds a B.S.B.A. in finance from Oklahoma State University and is an honors graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Mr. Williams is a member of the Nevada bar.

Attorney Craig S. Newman

Mr. Newman’s litigation practice is broad-based. He works closely with many of the largest casinos in Nevada, where he routinely obtains and executes upon judgments as part of his gaming collection practice. Mr. Newman also represents developers, investors, contractors and commercial landlords concerning their business and real estate disputes. He regularly practices before all Federal and State Courts in Southern Nevada.

Mr. Newman has continuously practiced law in Las Vegas since his graduation, with honors, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1989. His work experience ranges from practicing at the largest law firm in Nevada to managing his own boutique litigation firm. Mr. Newman also serves as a Judge Pro-Tem in North Las Vegas Justice Court.

Attorney Crane M. Pomerantz

Mr. Pomerantz is one of the leading white collar criminal defense and complex business litigation attorneys in Las Vegas.  A former federal prosecutor, Mr. Pomerantz leads the firm’s litigation practice. He is particularly adept in the courtroom and has established a reputation as a fierce and respected advocate.

During his fourteen year tenure in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, Mr. Pomerantz served as Chief of the White Collar unit and was also the Criminal Health Care Fraud Coordinator, during which he established a core competence in health care fraud.  He successfully prosecuted a number of complex and high profile cases as lead trial counsel and earned a number of awards from the Department of Justice and the prosecuting agencies with which he worked.  Prior to his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Pomerantz worked in a pair of Washington, D.C. law firms, Winston & Strawn and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and began his career in 1995 at a litigation boutique law firm in Boston.

Since returning to private practice in 2016, Mr. Pomerantz’ practice has focused on complex criminal, civil, and administrative matters.

Attorney David B. Barney

David B. Barney practices primarily in the areas of general civil and commercial litigation, and has experience in the fields of corporate, healthcare, commercial, and criminal law. Mr. Barney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, after having started his college career at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 2017, he received his Juris Doctor degree, Cum Laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review and won the CALI Award, as the outstanding student in Intellectual Property. Mr. Barney is the author of Trafficking Technology: A Look at Different Approaches to Ending Technology-Facilitated Human Trafficking, 45 PEPP. L. REV. 746 (2018) and Elonis v. United States: Why the Supreme Court Punted on Free Speech, 2016 PEPP. L. REV. 1 (2016). He volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters and is a member of the State Bar of Nevada.

Attorney Frederic I. Berkley

Frederic I. Berkley focuses his practice on general civil trial and appellate law, as well as commercial, contract, family, and corporate litigation.  During the past forty plus years, Mr. Berkley has represented commercial and professional enterprises and individuals (including many of Nevada’s prominent business, political, and professional leaders) in business and family disputes.  He has practiced in all federal and state courts in the State of Nevada, and has extensive experience in all forms of alternative dispute resolution.  Mr. Berkley has been featured for many years in The Best Lawyers in America and recognized in the area of business litigation in “Southwest Super Lawyers,” published by Law & Politics Magazine; he has also held an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell from the time he first became eligible.  Mr. Berkley is a 1975 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the San Diego Law Review and the Moot Court, and received his Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, from Queens College in 1972.  Mr. Berkley is a member of the State Bars of Nevada and California, and has also been a member of the Clark County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Nevada Inns of Court.

Attorney Henry E. Lichtenberger

Henry E. Lichtenberger practices primarily securities, corporate, real estate, and franchising law.  Mr. Lichtenberger was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the “Red’s” restaurant chain, special securities counsel for AutoNation, Inc., and previously practiced law at Proskauer Rose LLP and as a staff attorney for the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Lichtenberger is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Texas Southern University School of Law, where he was the Business Editor of the Texas Southern Law Review, and received a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1982.  He is a member of the Nevada, Florida, and Pennsylvania bars.

Attorney Johnathon Fayeghi

Johnathon Fayeghi is a litigator whose practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and commercial and residential real estate disputes. Johnathon has a wide range of commercial litigation experience: from small business disputes to multi-jurisdictional lawsuits in state and federal courts. Johnathon also has a great deal of experience handling commercial and residential real estate disputes and has been a Nevada Real Estate Licensee since 2005, with experience in both commercial and residential real estate transactions.

Johnathon received his undergraduate degree from University of Nevada Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting. He was a member of the Men’s Tennis Team. Johnathon received his Juris Doctor degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Attorney Mark A. McIntire

Mark A. McIntire practices in the areas of real estate, commercial, and finance transactions, with an emphasis on real estate development, conveyancing, leasing, and finance, and the formation of various types of investment vehicles.  Previously a partner in the business law department of Lionel Sawyer & Collins, Mr. McIntire is a 1992 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Arizona State University Law School, where he served as an editor of the Arizona State University Law Journal and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  He is a 1988 graduate of Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering.  Mr. McIntire is a member of the State Bar of Nevada.

Attorney Michael G. Roitman

Michael G. Roitman practices primarily in the area of corporate and financial transactions, with a focus on real estate, healthcare, securities, and commercial law. He previously practiced at White & Case LLP in its New York office. Mr. Roitman attended University of Nevada Las Vegas as an undergraduate, where he graduated with honors, and the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the editorial board of the Virginia Law & Business Review and President of the Virginia Employment & Labor Law Association. Attorney Peter C. Walsh

Peter C. Walsh is of counsel to the firm.  Mr. Walsh was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Ameristar Casinos, Inc., a multi-jurisdictional gaming company based in Las Vegas, from 2002 until its acquisition by Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. in August 2013.  He was previously Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of MGM MIRAGE and Assistant General Counsel of Mirage Resorts Incorporated.  Prior to joining Mirage Resorts, Mr. Walsh practiced corporate and securities law at Hughes Hubbard & Reed in Los Angeles.  He has represented issuers and underwriters in approximately 50 public offerings of equity and debt securities representing total financing of $5 billion.  Mr. Walsh is a 1981 graduate of UCLA School of Law (Summa Cum Laude), where he was a member of the UCLA Law Review and selected to the Order of the Coif.  He is a 1977 graduate of Loyola Marymount University (Summa Cum Laude).

Attorney Stephen R. Hackett

Stephen R. Hackett practices in the areas of general civil and commercial litigation.  Mr. Hackett was previously a partner in the litigation department of Lionel Sawyer & Collins and most recently was Managing Director in the Las Vegas office of an international development company.  Mr. Hackett is a 1991 Cum Laude graduate of California Western School of Law, where he served as Lead Articles Editor of the California Western Law Review and a 1988 graduate of the College of William & Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in government.  Immediately after graduating law school, Mr. Hackett served as a law clerk to Judge Richard F. Suhrheinrich of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  Mr. Hackett is admitted to the Nevada and California bars.

Attorney Susan Baranoff Langsner

Susan Baranoff Langsner has represented a wide range of health care providers with concentration in health care related issues including:  physician recruitment packages; employment contracts; medical records; medical office leases/buildouts; medical equipment lease/purchase agreements and relationships; medical practice organization and dissolution; mergers and acquisitions; patient issues (e.g., termination, abuse, privacy, and transplant); ethics and professional conduct; informed consent; hospital staff privileges; state licensure; and third-party payer relationships.

Ms. Langsner holds a B.S. from The American University, an M.A. from George Washington University, and a J.D. degree from Emory University School of Law, where she received the Moffit-Henderson Litigation Award and participated as an Instructor in the National Institute of Trial Advocacy program.  Ms. Langsner has taught “Health Care Law and Policy” at Emory University School of Law and at the College of Health Sciences, University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Her professional affiliations have included the National Health Lawyers Association, the Las Vegas Southwest Rotary, the American Bar Association, and the Clark County Bar Association.
