Attorney Jennifer Jones
Jen dedicates her career to criminal defense. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in Denver and her law degree at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006. During law school Jen focused on criminal defense and trial practice. She interned for the Colorado Public Defender’s Denver Office for two years. The DU criminal defense clinic awarded Jen its Outstanding Student Lawyer Award for Criminal Representation.
After law school Jen worked at the Colorado Public Defender’s Adams County Office as a trial attorney for over 15 years. In that position she became a lead trial attorney. She handled thousands of criminal cases and worked on many special projects. She mentored interns and young lawyers in trial practice, motions practice, and plea negotiations. She tried over 80 jury trials ranging from traffic cases to first degree murder. She trained lawyers regarding the complicated practice of defending juveniles facing adult court. Jen investigated and presented the mitigation of a capital case. Jen also handled complex post-conviction matters. Jen is an active member of the legal community. She testified to the state legislature regarding sentencing reform. Jen is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Denver and Adams County Bar Associations. She has presented at many trainings for the Colorado Public Defender’s Office. She was chosen to speak at many convenings for the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth in Washington, DC.

Attorney Jimena Mohedas
Jimena Mohedas is an Associate Attorney at Hernandez and Associates, P.C., where she practices criminal defense law. As a former Public Defender Jimena developed advanced litigation and client relation skills representing over 300 clients from first advisement through disposition.
Jimena received her Juris Doctor degree from the Boston University School of Law in 2020. During law school, Jimena represented indigent clients charged with various misdemeanors through a year long criminal defense clinic serving clients in Suffolk County. She additionally served as the Vice President of the Latin American Law Student Association, Affinity Group Representative in student government, and student chair of the Committee for Equity, Justice, and Engagement for 2 years. At Hernandez and Associates, P.C., Jimena focuses on criminal defense including DUI, domestic violence, and various traffic matters.
Jimena is admitted to the bar in Colorado. Jimena is the daughter of Argentinian immigrants and is a fluent Spanish speaker.

Attorney Kristina Alvera Contreras
Kristina Contreras is an Associate Attorney at Hernandez and Associates, P.C., where she practices immigration and removal defense. She is a second-generation American from a multicultural Asian/Hispanic background and originally studied Music and Lyrical Opera. It was her Apache grandfather who first suggested she apply her passion for advocacy to the law and when she volunteered as a Naturalization instructor at the Oxnard Mexican Consulate in her home state of California, she knew she had found her calling in immigration. Kristina attended William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota where her passion became commitment while working as a Certified Student Attorney at the Immigration Law Center.
Throughout her career, she has grown her passion for advocacy and her commitment to serving those in need of immigration services.
