Our attorneys understand that you may not want to go to trial. You know that trial is time-consuming and you need financial recovery as soon as possible. For that reason, we will take every necessary step to get your maximum settlement you deserve.

To achieve this goal, we prepare cases with such strength that the opposition will know that we are absolutely serious. It is not unusual for our lawyers to arrive at a simple meeting with the opposition carrying fully prepared exhibits to make it clear that we have done our work. In fact, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to see things our way, to see that you deserve every cent.

While it is unusual, it is possible that they still don’t see things our way. If that happens, we are ready to take the next step. We are ready to go into the courtroom to fight for the outcome that will help you move forward with your life.

Our team can handle every type of personal injury case, from auto accidents to amusement park accidents. Get in touch with us to find out what we can do for you.

Attorney Greg Owen

As a preeminent lawyer in the legal community, the work of senior partner, Greg Owen, has set new standards in the practice of law and furthered the plaintiffs’ cause nationwide. His intelligent and committed approach to the law has earned him national recognition and respect among his fellow lawyers.

Greg has successfully handled a wide variety of cases, ranging from simple auto, motorcycle and premise liability cases to complex cases such as international air disasters and defective pharmaceutical multi-district litigation. In 2000, he discovered the deceptive practices of Merck & Co. regarding its arthritis drug, Vioxx. Owen, Patterson & Owen filed the first Vioxx complaint in the nation on July 23, 2001. In 2008, the MDL litigation resulted in a $4.85 billion settlement.

He represents plaintiffs in such areas as product liability, personal injury and wrongful death. His achievements include a recent, record setting $35 million pretrial settlement on behalf of a 12-year-old brain damaged Palmdale girl. He recently represented hundreds of plaintiffs who were injured by a widely used drug. The nationwide litigation settled for $68 million.

Attorney Richard A. Patterson

As the Founding Partner of Owen, Patterson & Owen, Mr. Patterson has passionately and effectively represented accident victims for more than 35 years. He has represented clients in nearly every state, as well as many foreign countries who have suffered as a result of the negligence, fraud or misconduct of others. His specialty is serious motor vehicle accidents including automobile, truck, motorcycle, motor-home and bicycle accidents. His efforts have resulted in the obtaining of many multi-million dollar recoveries for injured clients.

Rick represented victims of one of the most tragic railroad accidents in California history: The Metro-Link crash in Chatsworth, California. In that accident, 25 people lost their lives because of the inattentiveness of the railway engineer and the lack of proper mechanisms to prevent a head-on collision between two trains.

Thousands of clients injured in car and truck accidents, pedestrians, motorcycle and bicycle accidents have benefitted from Rick’s representation. He is committed to pursuing fair and complete recoveries for his clients. Rick is a member of the American Bar Association and serves on the ABA Attorney Advisory Panel. He is licensed to practice in California and before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Under the leadership of Rick Patterson, the SCV Facilities Foundation made a donation of $1 Million to the Wm. S. Hart School District. This donation will allow 10 local junior high and high schools to receive shade structures on their campus.

Attorney Susan Owen

As Managing Partner of Owen Patterson & Owen, Susan Owen significantly impacts the firm’s success in the courtroom. She has extensive experience in a variety of areas in the personal injury field, including product liability, general negligence, wrongful termination, harassment and discrimination, and wrongful death. Throughout her nearly 25-year career of representing injured victims, she has been instrumental in obtaining substantial awards for the firm’s clients.

In addition to overseeing the direction of all of the cases handled by the firm, she manages the smooth flow of negotiations and litigation of the cases as she becomes intimately involved with the details of each case from inception to conclusion. While she has spent considerable time in the courtroom since she began practicing law in 1989, Susan’s expertise is in determining the superior legal arguments to utilize when faced with challenges. From the moment the firm is engaged by a new client, Susan supervises all aspects of case management and provides the trial team with the legal tools and documents necessary to settle the case or to win at trial.

Susan Owen Voted as a 2013 Southern California Super Lawyer.

Susan was instrumental in obtaining a multi-million dollar settlement for a couple who took a vacation in their motor home, which was struck by a Freightliner 18-wheeler on the Golden State Freeway. One of the clients was paralyzed when his spinal cord was severed, and his wife’s face was crushed from the impact. Susan Owen was able to convince the defendants to settle days after the lawsuit was filed, obtaining sufficient funds to provide sufficient medical care for these clients for the rest of their lives.

Attorney Tamiko B. Herron

Tamiko is a native Californian and has lived her entire life in Los Angeles. After her graduation from Pepperdine University School of Law, Tamiko became active in defending the rights of indigents to adequate housing and in providing legal aid to victims of domestic violence. She moved to the private sector in 1995 and became an active member of the plaintiffs’ bar. She was drawn to the legal field by her desire to do work that is meaningful, challenging, and that has a positive impact on society. She is responsible for client representation during depositions, court hearings, mediations, and trial. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Attorney J. Cody Patterson

Attorney Beau Goodrick

Beau, a native of Southern California, recently returned to the area after beginning his legal career at an AmLaw 100 firm in Washington, D.C. While practicing in D.C., Beau specialized in litigation and placed a great emphasis on pro bono work. In his litigation practice, Beau represented companies in connection with the misappropriation of technology.

Beau has varied experiences through his pro bono practice. Beau played a significant role in the drafting of petition for habeas corpus for a death-row inmate in Texas convicted of murder and sentenced to death on the basis of discredited science. Beau also successfully represented a pretrial detainee suing to recover for her unconstitutional treatment while detained within the Los Angeles County Jail System in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (Shorter v. Baca (9th Cir. 2018) 895 F.3d 1176). More recently, Beau drafted an asylum brief on behalf of an immigrant from El Salvador claiming asylum due to threats on his life by the MS-13 gang for disobeying gang orders to smuggle contraband into the prison where he worked.

Beau’s commitment to pro bono did not begin when he became a lawyer. While at the University of Southern California, Beau was a member of Engineers Without Borders, working with his team to design and build a running water system in La Estanzuela, Honduras. While at Emory University School of Law, Beau worked with the school’s Volunteer Clinic for Veterans and the local office of an international law firm to achieve a discharge upgrade for a veteran who was being denied medical care due to his discharge status.

It is this desire to help others that brought Beau to OPO, where he looks forward to doing his best work to assist victims of both accidents and corporate greed in recovering damages for their injuries.
