While in law school, Kooshoian studied trial advocacy and joined the school’s National Trial Team, competing in two national trial competitions. It was during this time that he worked in local political offices and interned at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus where he gained experience drafting corporate documents. He went on to work as a law clerk at a busy downtown negligence defense law firm where he learned how insurance companies seek to defend themselves against claims from injured people.
Kooshoian earned his Juris Doctor from UB Law and passed the New York State Bar Exam in 2007. He then accepted a position as a prosecutor with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. He was granted a practice order by the Fourth Department Appellate Division and was in the courtroom immediately. In February of 2008, Kooshoian was officially admitted to practice as an Attorney and Counselor at Law in the courts of record in New York State.
During his time as an Assistant District Attorney, Kooshoian practiced trial and appellate advocacy, arguing cases in Erie County’s City Courts, Justice Courts, County Courts, Supreme Courts and at the Appellate Division in Rochester. With his understanding and knowledge of how a case is investigated, prosecuted and tried, Kooshoian entered the world of private practice. Kooshoian represented people who were accused of crimes of every degree throughout Western New York. He also fought to recover money for people who were injured as a result of someone else’s negligence.
In January of 2016, Kooshoian founded the Law Office of Michael H. Kooshoian, PLLC. His goal is to help people. He is located in North Tonawanda and represents people in criminal and civil matters throughout Western New York.
