Often people think that estate planning is simply creating directives on how to distribute their assets when they die. However, a comprehensive estate plan includes incapacity planning so that your assets and wishes are carried out in the event you are unable to express them. At Contaldi and Bai, we take a holistic approach to estate planning and take the time to get to know our clients so we can make sure their wishes are accurately reflected in their documents. We also work hand in hand with our client’s financial advisors, and have a good working relationship with many CPA’s, financial consultants and insurance agents.
We perform an in-depth intake session with our clients and take the time to explain the nature of their assets and how they will be managed upon incapacity or how they will be distributed on death. We then develop powers of attorney, trusts and wills to accomplish our clients goals. In addition to drafting planning documents, at Contaldi and Bai we also help executors and administrators probate the assets of decedents. We also assist family members contesting wills and filing other chancery motions.

Mr. Bai has had an accomplished career as an entrepreneur prior to becoming an attorney. Mr. Bai owned a technology consulting firm which he later transitioned to a provider of managed voice services over Internet Protocol, one of the first in the tri-state area in 1999. After divesting himself of his technology and wine/spirit ventures, Mr. Bai was awarded a full scholarship to Brooklyn Law School where he decided to further his education by learning about the practice of law.
Mr. Bai now devotes his time to representing high net worth individuals with their estate planning needs and divorce/dissolution proceedings. Having someone who knows the intricacies of complex asset valuations coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the tax code is invaluable in those situations, and that is the experience Mr. Bai brings to the table. Mr. Bai has assembled a group of forensic accountants, financial advisers, and business valuation experts to assist his clients with their asset valuation issues.
Mr. Bai appears regularly before the Family Part and General Equity Part in Chancery Court in Bergen County, and throughout the State of New Jersey. He frequently presents in front of CPAs, financial advisers, and insurance agents on changes in the tax law that impact legacy planning. In addition, Mr. Bai is an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, lecturing on Family Law as well as the structure of the court system
