Whistleblower

A whistleblower is a person, usually an employee of a business, who observes conduct in the workplace that he or she feels violates the law, and who reports the conduct to a superior or to a governmental agency. Such people can bring lawsuits on behalf of the U.S. government as well, based on the Qui Tam doctrine. Several famous movies have been made about people who have been a whistleblower, because they are often very courageous people, willing to expose themselves to danger and ridicule in order to champion their own or another’s rights.
