I have over 34 years of legal experience in the Hampton Roads area. My areas of expertise include family law, criminal, traffic and collaborative law. I have tried cases in every city in Tidewater and on the Peninsula. I am a member of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association; the Virginia State Bar and its Family Law Section and the American Bar Association. Additionally, I am currently outside counsel for the Division of Child Support Enforcement.
I started my legal career as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in the City of Chesapeake and have been in private practice for the past 32 years. I have been a partner in the firm of Miller & Marx, P.C. since January of 1995. It is a small firm which offers individualized and personal attention to each client. My Assistant, Susan, has been with me for 22 years which allows us to work well as a team. Our office is conveniently located on Kempsville Road in Norfolk, across the street from Sentara Leigh Hospital.
I was chosen by my peers to be the past President of the Family Law Organization of Hampton Roads for two years. I was on the board of directors for the Tidewater Legal Aid Society for four years, and served as its President for four years. Twice, I won the pro-bono award given by the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association for volunteer work I did for indigent clients. I chaired a committee which was instrumental in establishing rehabilitative spousal support in Virginia.
