Since 1993 I have practiced in courts throughout Texas, with a focus on family law cases such as divorce, child custody, child support, and adoption. I am a former Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division having served Bexar County and surrounding counties, and a former Committee Counsel with the Texas House of Representatives.
I am experienced in resolving all types of family law cases, from the most pleasant, uncontested divorce where the other spouse participates without an attorney, to the most contentious of custody battles. I will work to obtain the best result for my clients, whether it is through trial, mediation, or informal settlement. I will provide you with accurate information about the relevant laws and procedures in Texas courts to help you make the decision that is right for you. I make sure my clients' rights are protected, that all necessary issues are discussed and resolved, and that the proper paperwork is filed to protect those rights. I have also received training in collaborative law, which is a process that involves working together with the other side in an attempt to negotiate a divorce that is as beneficial as possible to both parties.
I have handled thousands of cases ranging from bench trials in municipal and Justice of the Peace courts, to jury trials in County and District Courts, to appellate briefs and oral argument before the Courts of Appeals. I attempt to understand each client’s unique situation and investigate each case thoroughly in an attempt to obtain the best result possible. I promise to handle each case with respect and honesty, and to compassionately understand the stress and emotion that family law cases involve. I regularly obtain custody for my clients (moms, dads, grandparents, and aunts/uncles) through both negotiation and trial. I will make every effort to keep the costs involved, including court costs, legal fees, and emotional costs, to a minimum whenever possible.

Sometimes a court hearing or trial is necessary. The court may order the parties and their attorneys to attend mediation prior to a contested final hearing. My clients can rely on my commitment and dedication to work hard to get the best possible outcome in mediation, and if mediation proves unsuccessful, at trial. Individuals looking for aggressive (when necessary) and comprehensive representation should consider hiring me.
When you call me, at a minimum you will gain the knowledge about the law and the legal process that you will need to know in order to make the correct decision. I will be happy to give you the information you need without putting any pressure on you. I can give you a good idea about the possible outcome of your case given the facts presented, how long your case will take to resolve, and how much it will likely cost in court costs, legal fees, and other related costs. I will answer your questions regarding issues such as retroactive child support, property settlement, custody and visitation, and alimony or spousal maintenance. I will do everything I can to help relieve the fear of the unknown that litigants in a family law case often feel. I treat each case and each client with the utmost importance and return all calls and emails within 24 hours.
I have offices in San Marcos and San Antonio and serve Hays County, Comal County, Bexar County, and Guadalupe County.
