John A. Cochran earned a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law, a Master of Science in Taxation from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from West Virginia University.
John was a Certified Public Accountant prior to attending law school and has more than thirty years of combined experience as a tax analyst, tax preparer business analyst and attorney.
Prior to John practicing law he worked many years in public accounting, he was involved in a wide variety of individual, business and charitable organization tax issues ranging from corporate reorganization to complex estate, gift and income tax return preparation.
John’s combined practice spans a wide range of commercial matters such as business enterprises including the tax ramification of a particular transactions, corporate formations and governance, shareholder disputes, asset protection and mergers and acquisitions. He represents taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities, as well as advising clients of their estate and gift planning options.
Mr. Cochran is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, U.S. Tax Court and to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Westmoreland County Bar Association.
