Contact an Attorney Who Cares
I am the most fortunate attorney to have had the opportunity to assist people in western Kentucky with the adoption of children since 1986. Over the past thirty years, I have represented both birth parents and adoptive parents, and have developed overwhelming respect and admiration for each of them.
In the course of adoptions, I have seen people at their very best. Birth parents, and particularly birth mothers, make heroic emotional sacrifices purely out of love for these children. I have had the privilege of helping these most wonderful women who find themselves in unexpected and tragic circumstances protect and care for these children by placing them in loving, stable, safe and secure homes, with adoptive parents who are prepared and completely committed to them.
Adoptive parents are wonderful, in their own right. They generally are couples who deeply love one another and desperately want to share that love with a child. They are willing to suffer the wait and feelings of uncertainty inherent in the adoptive process just for the hope of completing their family and loving a child. The love and compassion of adoptive parents for children and birth parents still amazes, even after thirty years of watching them.
My job in the adoption process is twofold. First, I work very hard to be completely current and knowledgeable of adoption law, procedures, nuances of local court systems, preferences of judges, personalities of clerk’s offices, administrative requirements, Cabinet requirements and all legal issues affecting the adoptive process. Over the past thirty years, my appreciation and admiration for the people involved in adoption have helped me to develop the ability to compassionately and effectively assist birth parents and adoptive parents in negotiating the legal system with the least amount of stress possible.
Second, and possibly more importantly, it is my job to help the birth parents and adoptive parents understand one another’s stresses and fears and develop a compassionate relationship of mutual gratitude, love and respect.
I believe that my success in the practice of adoption law simply is a function of the fact that I truly care for the people involved. All of the people involved. Nothing makes me feel more fulfilled and blessed than knowing that I have had a small part in building loving families, providing life opportunities and security for children, and soothing the hearts of birth parents who find themselves unable to provide for a child.
