Attorney Oscar W. Bannister, Jr.
Oscar W. Bannister, Jr. founded Bannister & Wyatt along with John F. Wyatt back in 1976. From 1962-1965, Mr. Bannister served as a military captain in the U.S. Army. He graduated from the Citadel in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and attended law school at the University of South Carolina, where he received his J.D. in 1969. Mr. Bannister was admitted to the South Carolina bar, the U.S. District Court and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1969.
Mr. Bannister served as an assistant U.S. Attorney from 1970- 1974. With over 35 years in the courtroom, Mr. Bannister provides counsel and advice dealing with Criminal Law, Family Law and Tax Law. He has successfully tried cases throughout South Carolina, earning a listing in Best Lawyers of America for the past 20 years (1991-2011)for his work in DUI/DWI Defense as well as white and non-white collar criminal defense.
With a high degree of professionalism, he has tried cases focusing on White Collar Crime, Criminal Taxation, Civil Practice, Divorce, Fire Loss, Litigation, RICO, Internet Crimes, Drugs and Narcotics, Tax Evasion, Tax Fraud and Criminal Tax Audits.

Attorney James W. Bannister
James W. Bannister graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1995.
In 1995, he was admitted to the practice of law in South Carolina and is a member of the South Carolina Bar, Federal Bar Association, O’Neal Inn of Court, Greenville Young Lawyers Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, South Carolina Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, National Board of Trial Advocacy, and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce (member, Board of Regents, 1999-2001). Mr. Bannister was appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to the South Carolina Criminal Rules Task Force. Additionally, he serves on the South Carolina Bar Criminal Law Committee. He is also LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated.
Recognized as a top lawyer in Greenville, Mr. Bannister was listed in the Best Lawyers in America for the past 5 years (2007-2011) for his work in DUI/DWI Defense as well as white and non-white collar criminal defense. Attorney Alex Stalvey
Mr. Stalvey is an associate in the firm, and his practice is primarily focused on Criminal Defense, Drugs and Narcotics, DUI and Family Law. Alex is admitted to practice law in South Carolina.
Mr. Stalvey graduated from the University of South Carolina in December 1999. He then worked in Washington D.C. for U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond as a Project Assistant from March 2000 to August 2001. His job duties included helping constituents with issues involving the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Department of State, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Agriculture.
Returning to South Carolina in 2001, Mr. Stalvey attended the University of South Carolina Law School. He graduated in 2004 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in November of that same year.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Stalvey held a year-long clerkship with the Honorable John L. Breeden, Jr., Circuit Court Judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit. At the conclusion of his clerkship with Judge Breeden, Mr. Stalvey accepted a position in Spartanburg as an Assistant Solicitor in the 7th Judicial Circuit under Solicitor Trey Gowdy.
Mr. Stalvey worked as an Assistant Solicitor three years before accepting a position with Greenville County as a prosecutor under Solicitor Bob Ariail in the summer of 2008. As a prosecutor in Greenville, Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, he tried cases ranging from Murder, Drug Trafficking, Burglary and Armed Robbery to DUI and Property Offenses.
Mr. Stalvey is a member of the South Carolina and Greenville County Bar Associations. In February 2009, he was appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to the Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. Mr. Stalvey also serves on the Board of the University of South Carolina Alumni Association in Greenville.
