Attorney Steven D. Gertler

Steven D. Gertler founded the law firm of Steven D. Gertler & Associates, Ltd. in 1987. His practice is concentrated in civil litigation in the areas of personal injury, insurance subrogation, and creditors rights.

Mr. Gertler received his J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar and the Federal Trial Bar in 1981.

He has successfully tried thousands of bench, jury and arbitration cases in Illinois.

Steven D. Gertler is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, National Association of Subrogation Professionals, and National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys. He also serves regularly as an Arbitrator for the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.

Attorney Robert J. Smoler

Robert J. Smoler is Of Counsel to the Chicago law firm of Steven D. Gertler and Associates, Ltd., where his concentration is in civil litigation, wrongful death and workers’ compensation law.

He has appeared before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission as well as the Circuit Courts of Cook County and the surrounding counties.

Mr. Smoler received his B.S. and J.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and is Phi Beta Kappa, Gamma Chapter of Illinois at the University of Illinois.

He is a member of the Workers' Compensation Lawyers' Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Attorney David E. Artman

David E. Artman received his Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law, and was admitted to practice in the State of Illinois in 1987. He has been a member of both the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Mr. Artman has practiced personal injury, subrogation and insurance defense law for nearly twenty years. He has been active in appellate work and mandatory arbitration, frequently serving as panel chairperson.

As a trial lawyer, Mr. Artman has personally tried over 120 cases to jury verdicts, as well as, literally hundreds of bench trials and arbitration. In 2005, he was also admitted to practice in the State of Indiana.

Attorney Andrew Mazzuca

Andrew Mazzuca, an associate with STEVEN D. GERTLER & ASSOCIATES, joined the firm in September 2007.

Andrew was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Indiana University in 2002. During his studies at Indiana University School of Law, Andrew attended the Institute on International and Comparative Law in London, England, and served as Managing Editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal.

In his final year of school, Andrew worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in Indianapolis. During this internship, Andrew tried several Major Felony cases to jury verdict, and developed the skills and interest in trial advocacy that brought him to STEVEN D. GERTLER & ASSOCIATES.

Andrew practices in the areas of insurance subrogation, personal injury, and commercial litigation.

Attorney Kenneth Bringer

Kenneth Bringer, an associate attorney with Steven D. Gertler & Associates, joined the firm in August 2007.

Kenneth was born in Chicago, Illinois, and received his bachelor's degree from Cornell College in Political Science, History, and International Relations with a concentration in Economics. He went on to get a master's degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield in Political Studies and his Juries Doctorate from Northern University College of Law.

Prior to practicing law, Kenneth was a paratrooper and a police officer. Kenneth practices in the areas of insurance subrogation, personal injury, and defense cases.
