Family health insurance is both a wise investment and a benefit sometimes provided by employers. One of the ways companies retain good workers is to provide family health insurance. In this way, the company pays for the premiums for the worker as well as his or her spouse and children. Different companies provide vastly different options, however, and in many cases certain important coverages are excluded. For example, most companies provide some level of maternity leave and the policy provided to employees may cover the costs involved in a pregnancy and delivery. However, the coverage may not apply to something such as complications involving the delivery, or long-term disability for the mother.
