The DePuy Hip Recall for the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular system and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System started on August 26, 2010. The DePuy Hip recall was because roughly 1 in 8 patients who had received the ASR Hip System or who had an ASR total hip replacement needed to have a DePuy revision surgery after only 5 years.
The FDA has recalled two DePuy Hip procducts; the DePuy ASR Resurfacing System and the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular system. Common problems with the Depuy Hip Replacement recall include:
- Problems walking
- Pain
- Swelling after the hip replacement surgery.
