Creditor Debt Negotiation
Creditor debt negotiation is a process often undertaken by lawyers or other consultants on behalf of a person in debt who does not want to have to deal directly with a creditor. Negotiation is often difficult for a person in debt because he or she lacks leverage from which to speak to a creditor. Also, a creditor may use tactics that scare a person in debt who does not know his or her rights. When a lawyer or other skilled consultant undertakes creditor debt negotiation the client no longer has to face the creditor directly. The professional engages in negotiation on behalf of the person in debt and arrives at a monthly or other payment of the debt that the creditor approves. As long as the person in debt complies with the agreement, the creditor generally no longer attempts to collect the debt from the client.
