Courthouse

A courthouse is the official place where disputes in a municipality, state or country are heard. Judges rule on evidence, procedure and sometimes the facts of a case in both civil and criminal cases. Their decisions become decisions of the court. Cases can then be appealed by a party who wants to challenge the rulings made by the judge. Lawyers who argue cases before judges are usually called litigators. Often, the courthouse also is the place where official records for things like title to property are held.
