Copyright Infringement

Copyright infringement occurs when a person copies, publishes or otherwise uses information without the consent of a person who holds a copyright to that material. Infringement is a legal term that refers to the unauthorized use, especially where the person uses the protected information as though it were their own. Copyright infringement can sometimes create a very public legal trial, such as where a newspaper is accused of plagiarism or when the copyright infringement claim relates to a famous book. Attorneys who practice in the field of copyright infringement are often trial lawyers primarily. However, some attorneys are skilled both in helping clients apply for a copyright and in bringing or defending against infringement lawsuits.
