5/83 Discovered biochemical nature of protein deposited in the brain in hereditary cerebral hemorrhage with amyloidosis. Because of this, a biochemical test can now diagnose the disease. (See Reference #1 "Publications" section.)
6/80 Citation from New York City Policeman's Benevolent Association for saving the life of a police officer in the Emergency Room.

The applicant has limited his practice strictly to rheumatology over the past 20 years, advising other physicians on management of cases involving autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, clinical immunology and medical orthopedics. Through a focused and extremely busy referral practice (twenty new rheumatology consultations in office per week), clinical skill has been refined and new approaches to several diseases developed. The applicant is well known as the authority in rheumatology at all south shore hospitals amongst the attending staff and with civic organizations. Applicant has experience with and interest in implementing clinical research.
