A lawsuit alleging that a defective product has caused injury is commonly called a products liability case. In such cases, the key question is often whether the defective product is inherently dangerous or otherwise unsafe. If not, then the case may turn on whether the producer knew or had reason to know that the item had a defect. The other key issue is whether the problem associated with the item was actually responsible for the injury a person or persons suffered. Many law forms specialize in bringing cases of this nature to trial, endeavoring to get large settlements from the producer on behalf of an entire class of plaintiffs.
