An insurance attorney may work for a company that issues policies for life, auto, health or casualty. Other lawyers in the field work on behalf of policy holders, often litigating cases or negotiating with providers of coverage. While many lawyers practice in the related fields of tort law and business law, that does not guarantee specific expertise on policy issues. An expert insurance attorney will likely have litigation experience but also deep knowledge about policies, coverage, liability, exclusions and issues relating to bad faith.
