Defense Lawyer
A
defense lawyer represents defendants in a criminal case. Often, these lawyers are appointed by the court, because the cases can have serious ramifications. A defense lawyer is therefore often appointed for people who cannot afford legal counsel to ensure their rights are not violated. The criminal attorney attends a variety of hearings leading up to a trial and must be skilled not only in the procedures and process, but in arguing persuasively before judge and jury about the facts of a case.
