Corporate Counsel generally refers to a lawyer who works in-house for a corporation. Such lawyers provide a wide range of counsel on business and corporate issues that impact the corporation. In many cases, however, corporate counsel can also refer to a lawyer who advises a city or other municipality on corporate and business issues. Often this position is termed corporation counsel.
