Wrongful Termination Lawsuit
Attorneys file a wrongful termination lawsuit against an employer on behalf of their employee clients. To bring a successful case, the attorney must be able to establish the terms of the employment agreement between the parties and the violation of those terms by the employer. Some of these cases involve highly paid executives and the wrongful termination lawsuit alleges that the plaintiff was terminated due to a protected civil rights distinction such as age, gender, race or disability. On the other hand, many cases may involve generally employees who are laid off, and the question becomes whether the employer was justified in its activities based on economic conditions, or whether that was just an excuse.
