Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is prohibited by federal law and also many similar state law provisions. A pattern of behavior in the workplace that makes another feel demeaned in some way related to their sexuality is at the heart of the legal protections. While sexual harassment is classically thought of as direct, unwanted sexual advances, the interpretations of the law over time have included far less overt conduct into the prohibitions. In some states, many businesses are now required to provide executives and other employees with periodic training to reduce the prohibited behaviors in the work place.
