Drug abuse is a critically difficult issue for both personal and legal reasons. On a personal level the use of drugs often causes breakdowns in a person’s life that, in the worst cases, leads to homelessness and criminal activity. When this happens, access to the substance becomes more important than anything else in life. Drug abuse thus can become a legal problem as well as a personal problem, when the addicted person resorts to breaking the law in order to get access to the illegal substance.
