Corporate Counsel
Corporate Counsel generally refers to a lawyer who works in-house for a corporation. Such lawyers provide a wide range of counsel on business and corporate issues that impact the corporation. In many cases, however, corporate counsel can also refer to a lawyer who advises a city or other municipality on corporate and business issues. Often this position is termed corporation counsel. Either way, corporate counsel generally advise the senior executive management and board of a company, or in the case of corporation counsel, the city board, on issues related to business, employment, securities, finance, contracts and litigation. If you are seeking corporate counsel for your business, you may choose to hire a qualified lawyer who is currently practicing corporate law in private practice.
