Spam Law
Spam law covers the increasing problem of unauthorized and at times malicious e-mail. Spam is the industry phrase for unwanted junk mail. Today, however, such e-mail is often far more than unwanted and contains viruses and illegal requests for personal information. In the U.S. spam law seeks to prevent this type of e-mail by imposing fines and even imprisonment for certain types of spam law violations. Some of these violations of law are investigated by the Federal Trade Commission and even the FBI. While the law provides for stiff fines, spam continues to be a major problem for individuals and businesses. An attorney well-versed in dealing with spam law can counsel an individual or business about their own e-mail practices as well as assist people and companies in bringing a spam law violation lawsuit.
